How can young people get journalists' attention?
...AND, when you consider the above video, do they really need to?
This Saturday, I'm addressing a conference run by the United Nations Youth & Student Association of the UK, and the theme of my contribution will be how to campaign by getting journalists' attention.
This will be an interactive session with around 60-80 young people and I hope to include guidance on how to target journalists at various levels of the media, plus examples of how you can take matters in to your own hands to make a splash.
But seriously, I'll include examples where blogs have given groups a voice, YouTube videos have shone a light on the concerns of so-called ordinary people (as happened this week in Telford, see the video before the cut) and where campaigns on Facebook have spilled over to the real world.
I'm really looking forward to the event, which is at Birmingham University, it's the opportunity to interact with the delegates, that is the biggest draw, and judging by past experience, seems to go down well.
If you have any ideas of any important points to raise then please do get in touch, I'd love to hear from you.
